Today the Government of Spain, with the European Investment Bank, announced a proposed financial framework to support building the Thirty Meter Telescope at the Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos on La Palma.
An offer of this scale reflects the commitment and long-term vision of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico y la Innovación (CDTI), Instituto de Crédito Oficial (ICO), the European Investment Bank, and the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC). We recognize as well the longstanding support of the Government of the Canary Islands for astronomy on La Palma.
The proposal now goes to TIO's Members for consideration. We appreciate Spain's confidence and the continued dedication of all our partners, and we look forward to continuing these discussions.
