The STEAM networking Gala, organized by Pasadena City College on Friday 8 March, served as a new platform for students to gain valuable exposure to the diverse range of career paths and opportunities available within the STEM fields.
During the PCC STEAM Gala event, TIO representatives introduced students to the TMT Observatory. The team, consisting of Warren Skidmore, Ben Irarrazaval, and Nanci Préel Dumas brought a 3D print model and information about the observatory, leading to lively and interesting discussions throughout the event. They engaged the audience with presentations and conversations, highlighting the importance of research in astronomy and the impact it has on advancing our understanding of the universe. Students quickly lined up to ask numerous questions about the project, technology, potential internships, and jobs in the field.
The TIO team was thrilled to invest effort in this outreach event, helping students explore the possibilities within STEM and informing them about potential paths forward. The Gala was a big success, impacting students who showed great interest and curiosity, thanks to the impressive organization by the PCC Freeman Career Center Team and PCC faculty.
