On July 16, 2018, a workshop about TMT's combined Mid-Infrared Camera, High-disperser, and Integral field spectrograph (MICHI) was held at the National Astronomical Observatories, CAS (NAOC) in Beijing.
The workshop focused on discussing science currently done with today's ground-based thermal-IR instruments, and the science cases for building a thermal-IR instrument for the TMT. Harnessing expertise across the TMT partnership, scientists and engineers discussed the goals and requirements of a thermal-IR instrument concept for TMT.
Professor Chris Packham (UTSA & NAOJ), Mitsuhiko Honda (Kurume University, Japan), Professor Gregory Herczeg (PKU, China), Professor Lei Hao (SHAO, China), TMT-China office and over twenty Chinese Astronomers and Engineers attended the meeting.
