The Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) International Observatory (TIO) is excited to present the 2024 TMT Detailed Science Case (2024 Science Case), the ultimate description of the groundbreaking discoveries that await TMT. Developed by over 200 researchers, the 2024 Science Case showcases the cutting-edge science that the TIO community is poised to achieve.
Packed with fresh insights from cutting edge observatories like JWST, ALMA, and LIGO, the 2024 Science Case highlights the bold scientific questions that will drive TMT’s exploration – from the search for signs of life on exoplanets, to the mysteries of dark matter and dark energy, the formation of the first stars and galaxies, and the role of supermassive black holes shaping galaxies. As the only Extremely Large Telescope in the Northern Hemisphere, TMT will team up with the world’s foremost facilities to unlock the universe’s deepest secrets.
